Eating In/Out
From quality island cooking to authentic Indian plates, West End offers a wonderful dining selection to satisfy every taste and budget. West End also has a popular bar scene, with partygoers starting at Sundowners and continuing down the road as the night proceeds. Meet us at one of our favorite spots listed below for a great time!
On the way from the airport or the ferry to the West side of the island, you will drive past Eldon's and Plaza Mar, both are big supermarkets where you will be able to pick up most of the things you require for your stay. It is usually the cheapest place to buy alcohol, dairy, canned goods, deli items and staples. Both supermarkets are well stocked with plenty of US and local produce.
In West End, you can also find smaller grocery stores and convenience to pick up basic items. On the north end of Half Moon Bay, you will find Woody's groceries (closed Saturdays) next to Argentinian Grill, Coconut Tree Mini Super (with ATM) next to the dive shop and Minisuper Jackson next to the Baptist Church. Fruit and vegetables are available for sale from various stands and pick up trucks parked along the West End main road. You can also buy shrimp and fish from the truck with the white coolers in the back (look for it near Minisuper Jackson) or from Alice's place opposite the yellow Beach House. Look out for the Blue Harbor Plantation truck for local hydroponically grown salads and herbs (also available for sale in various groceries).

WEST END
Coconut Tree Restaurant and Bar
Located above the dive shop overlooking Half Moon Bay, Chef Vincent is always ready to greet new and old customers with a smile and island and southwestern inspired menu. Great seafood dishes, Burgers and nice cold beers. The bar is always fun to hang out at and watch the sunset. Open for lunch & dinner, 7 days.
Ooloonthoo Indian Restaurant
Located on the main road in Mangrove Bight, just outside of West End, Ooloonthoo specialises in fantastic Asian cuisine coupled with an intimate dining experience. With friendly service and precisely prepared dishes, customers are able to enjoy an upscale culinary experience with just a touch of that relaxed Caribbean feel. Paul also offers cookery classes. Rotisserie Chicken
Always great value for money, Dola and her army of helpers make the best rotisserie chicken 'n' fixins on the island. For only USD 6 you can get full on a quarter chicken and two sides. Don't forget the delicious desert menu...YUM! Always a hit with locals and tourists alike. Open for dinner, closed sundays, arrive early to avoid a wait.
Linga Longa at the Beach House
Chef Gary has put together an eclectic, exciting menu to tantalise your taste buds. Dining on a balcony overlooking Half Moon Bay, whilst listening to the gentle lapping sound of the caribbean ocean. Perfect location to enjoy some exquisite food. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, closed Mondays.
Sundowners Beach Bar
One of the best beach bars on the island, Sundowners is the place to be for sunset drinks, offering great bar food, burgers, nachos, sandwiches, and my favourite, spicy, crispy chicken wrap with avocado and bacon. Hmmmm. Ask to try their signature cocktail "The Monkey Lala" - you won't be disappointed. Open 7 days til 10pm, BBQ on Sundays. Live music on various nights. Tel: 2445 4158.
Tongs Thai Restaurant
Always a must when in Roatan, Tong's serves up authentic Thai dishes in a romantic setting overlooking the Caribbean, the delicate flavours of the spices and sauces combined with the views, make for a wonderful dining experience. Open for dinner. Tel: 2445 4258.
Half Moon Bay Restaurant
A great setting for some traditional island cooking, Aunt Blackie serves up the best seafood and island dishes on the deck overlooking Half Moon Bay. Coconut Shrimp, Conch Balls and Lemon Pepper Fish. Dishes are lovingly cooked the island way served with fresh seasonal veggies and salads. The Key Lime pie is a real treat. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Cafe Escondido
A great little hangout with a great ocean view, Brett's kitchen cooks up daily specials and Asian-flavoured favourites like Spicy Chicken Cashew and Singapore Noodles. Great place for a leisurely brunch, or join them for sunset at Sangria Sundays DJ set. Open for breakfast/lunch and events by request, closed Tuesdays.
SANDY BAY
Blue Bahia
Set on the beach in Sandy Bay, you will never go home hungry after a meal cooked by Chef Kent. His speciality is the smoker oven: succulent melt-on-the-bone smoked ribs, pulled pork sandwiches and many more delicious delights. Good prices and service make this another dining hotspot.
